Finance Director

Summary

As Director of Finance, you will be reporting directly to the CEO of Ubersmith with a dotted line to the VP Group Finance (www.luminegroup.com), and you will be primarily responsible for financial operations.

Responsibilities

Management

  • Act as a business partner to the CEO and senior leadership team in supporting their reporting needs and identifying potential areas for improvement
  • Present financial results and KPIs to Volaris Finance, including presentation of quarterly forecasts and explanation of variances between forecasts and actual results
  • Provide strategic financial leadership on issues affecting the business
  • Recommend and lead efforts to improve ROIC (Return on Invested Capital) and/or growth performance

Finance & Reporting

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly consolidated financial reporting package to ensure compliance of internal and external reporting requirements in accordance with IFRS, while adhering to tight timelines
  • Perform project accounting and controlling
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivables processes and manage working capital
  • Monitor and input on key metrics of individual customer contracts
  • Monitor and enforce Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
  • Manage the Quarterly Strategic Review (QSR) process, using extensive Excel modeling, pipeline and costs analysis to prepare a robust forecast
  • Ensure execution of action items and improvements plans from the quarterly forecast review process
  • Work closely with Lumine Finance and manage ad-hoc requests in a timely manner

Governance & Risk

  • Apply best practices to processes, people and systems to affect revenue, profitability and cash-flow, to improve operating efficiency and performance
  • Lead and implement introduction of new systems and processes such as new financial systems, expense management and other reporting systems
  • Perform Risk Management process review, effective internal controls, policy standardization and process improvements
  • Handle intercompany transactions and transfer pricing documentation
  • Oversee and improve effective administration processes and systems for company records and contracts
  • Stay abreast of trends and regulations to ensure effectiveness and compliance for the finance functions

Legal

  • Work closely with all functional leads to ensure projects bids and contract terms, financial and otherwise, adhere to corporate parameters
  • Coordinate all legal activities with the VP Group Finance

Qualifications and work experience

  • Professional Accounting Designation is required (CPA or equivalent)
  • Minimum 5+ years of progressive financial experience
  • Software and/or SaaS industry experience an asset
  • Experience working with a US operating business
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and presentation) with internal and external stakeholders at all organizational levels
  • Strong attention to detail while handling multiple projects simultaneously
  • Works collaboratively and relates effectively to others by consulting with employees, colleagues, partners, clients, users and stakeholders
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, practices and applications under IFRS and US GAAP
  • Self-driven and motivated
  • Hand-on contributor to all aspects of the finance function
  • Ability to handle a demanding work schedule
  • International travel will be required
